Upon completing her degree, she was awarded the <em>Luther and Ernest Gaunt Scholarship for Strings<\/em>; and the <em>Foreign and Commonwealth Office Scholarship<\/em> to pursue a Masters in Music Performance (MMUS) at the <em>University of Leeds, UK<\/em>. Joanne completed her PhD studies with <em>Heriot-Watt University, UK<\/em> in 2009; with a focus on music and consumer behaviour.<br><br>While studying in the United Kingdom, she had the privilege to participate in several seminars and masterclasses held by prominent musicians. In the summer of 1998, she participated in the <em>Aberystwyth Music Festival<\/em>, the <em>Edinburgh Summer Festival <\/em>and the <em>Aberdeen Music Festival<\/em>. She also played an active role with the <em>Sorrel Quartet <\/em>during the <em>Leeds Annual Music Festival 1999<\/em>.<br><br>Since returning to Malaysia in 2000, Joanne was selected to participate in the <em>Asian Youth Orchestra<\/em>, travelling to Vietnam, Japan, Australia, Korea and Hong Kong. In 2002, Joanne performed alongside Hong Kong superstar <em>Jacky Cheung<\/em> in his <em>Music Odyssey Tour 2002\/03 <\/em>covering over 40 concerts around the world. The following year, Joanne was selected to perform with Taiwanese singer <em>David Tao<\/em> in his <em>Soul Power Tour 2003<\/em>. In 2008, Joanne was invited to play with another Hong Kong superstar, <em>Alan Tam<\/em>. More recently, she played alongside Taiwanese singer song-writer <em>Sam Lee<\/em> in his concert,<em> Me &amp; Song 2024 <\/em>at Macau. Her musical performances are much sought after by many corporate and international industries, among them <em>Sony<\/em>, <em>Panasonic<\/em>, <em>Omega<\/em>, <em>Tag Heuer<\/em>, <em>Microsoft<\/em>, <em>HP<\/em>, <em>Audi<\/em>, <em>BMW<\/em>, <em>Ferrari<\/em>, <em>Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini<\/em>, <em>ESPN<\/em>, <em>British American Tobacco<\/em>, <em>Blackberry<\/em> and <em>Apple<\/em>. Among the highlights include playing at the <em>World Economic Forum<\/em> at Davos, Switzerland in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Joanne has since launched 3 albums,\u00a0<em>Pulse of the Metropolis<\/em>\u00a0in 2005;\u00a0<em>After A Dream<\/em>\u00a0in 2013; and\u00a0<em>Life, Interrupted<\/em>\u00a0in 2021. All songs are available for download on all major streaming platforms.<br><br>Among the awards Joanne has received include <em>The Outstanding Young\u00a0Malaysian Award 2004<\/em>, <em>Martell\u2019s Rising Personality Award 2008<\/em>, <em>National Academic Award 2012<\/em>, <em>BrandLaureate Grand Master Brand ICON Leadership Award 2017<\/em>; and the <em>McMillan Woods Global Icon Award 2019<\/em>.\u00a0More recently, she was selected as <em>Winner <\/em>for the<em>\u00a0Professional Achievement Award<\/em> in the <em>Study UK Alumni Awards 2021<\/em>.\u00a0Joanne is also an accredited examiner for <em>Trinity College London<\/em> examination board, having travelled to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Gibraltar, the Middle East and the Asian continent since 2005. Presently, she is a consulting editor for <em>Musicae Scientiae<\/em> journal and lectures as an Associate Professor at the Music Department of <em>Universiti Putra Malaysia<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Apart from a good cup of coffee, Joanne also enjoys working with and for the underprivileged in her community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr\u00a0Joanne Yeoh obtained a First Class Honours in her degree from Middlesex University, UK in 1998.
